My Sales Journey

Life is full of surprises and sometimes we need to feel the pain before we can change.  The pain I endured was emotional.  After 10 years in the diesel workshop field, I needed a change to find out why I was not happy and I believed sales was what I needed.  I was correct but I didn't know how hard it was going to be and what I was going to learn was far more than sales.

Now Dane has started his business on 1st August 2023.  I made the leap and now I working from home doing Sales for companies and consulting work work for individual clients and businesses.

​

Employed as a REP for Auckland and grew it in lower north island travels

​

  • Area REP for Auckland then grew it further south maintained customers, reinstated old ones, and gained new ones throughout the North Island.

  • B2B customer Relationships

  • Maintain customer and supplier relationships

  • 2ic for the Wiri office when the manager was away

  • Office bound duties included incoming inquiries and orders in and out and engineering duties and stock 

  • Managed warranty claims

  • Personally delivered orders when needed and on the way home from work

  • Managed complaints

  • Warehousing duties inwards and outwards

  • Engineering duties and skills included relining shoes, matching flywheels, disc machining, drum machining, designing blank linings for obsolete shoes, and tooling maintenance

Improving my knowledge and skill in engineering, clutch workings into very technical and performance understandings, brakes workings into furthering my understanding of brakes, specifically in linings materials and leading/trailing workings.

During these years I learned i lot about people, sales and most importantly myself

Below is a list of companies and job roles I did all related to sales and being mostly commission-only roles.  Some I loved some I didn't it was all new and I had one goal, learn how to sell and learn how to get people to like me, find out about me.

​

Nurti-max: This was my first employed sales role commission only, this company had agents that sold cookware for them, we did home shows lead generating telemarketing in-home presentations, and more.

​

Option B: This role required me to be a qualified real estate agent so I become a qualified estate agent.  We learned about selling houses and managing rentals

​

Data Source: This role was a telemarketer role which lead to running a small telemarketing team.  My now friend Aaron has shown me how to be a better person and this was when my life changed from trying to learn sales to just doing sales.

​

Phenix Forex: Wow what can I say I sold investments earned a lot of money learned how to sell from a great salesman and teacher.  Due to law changes in investments offshore the doors had to close. 

 

ASV: Employeed Role my brother needed someone to help manage a wrecking yard site so he asked me if wanted a 3-month term role to run the premise as they slowly move two businesses into one. I accepted and have a crash course in a wrecking yard I made it work I learned a lot

Vehicle Brocker: This role was calling up vehicle owners and moving the idea of them selling the car to me selling the car.

​

Contract Sales Consultant: I generated cleaning contracts and on-sold them to cleaners, eventually having 2 part-time staff.

​

During this time learning how to:

  • Direct sell

  • Telemarketing

  • Create Scripts
  • Manage People/Teams
  • Cold calling

  • Leads generation

  • Many styles of selling techniques

  • Closing techniques

​

Eventually Learned that I didn't need to learn to make people like me I need to learn I was the problem.  This grew into wanting to learn personality types and selling styles.  In turn, learning about myself and changing me in ways I never could imagine something you watch a movie of or read in books ...........
